How to screen cash-secured puts
- Choose Find Cash-Secured Puts and enter the stock symbol you want to evaluate.
- Run the screener to compare available put candidates across strikes and expirations for that stock.
- Review premium, capital required, breakeven, return and estimated assignment risk before deciding whether a candidate fits your goals.
How to analyze a covered call and compare rolls
- Choose Analyze Existing Position, select Covered Call and enter your stock symbol and current option contract. Use Cash-Secured Put instead to analyze an existing put.
- Check the position inputs, then run the analysis to review holding the current contract and available roll alternatives.
- Compare net roll credit, additional time, strike changes, breakeven and estimated assignment risk. A larger credit alone does not make a roll a better choice.

Understanding the comparison
- Net roll credit
- The premium from the replacement option minus the cost of closing the current option. A positive credit does not by itself mean the entire position is profitable.
- Same-period return
- A comparison over a common time window. The model spreads a candidate’s extrinsic option value over its days remaining, then scales it to the comparison horizon and capital used. This is a simplifying comparison, not a forecast that option value decays evenly or that you can realize that return.
- Estimated assignment risk
- Where available, the displayed estimate uses the absolute option delta multiplied by 100. It is a rough proxy, not a calibrated probability of assignment; early assignment and changing market conditions can produce different outcomes. Missing delta means the estimate is unavailable.
- Breakeven and capital
- These depend on the strategy, premiums and position inputs. Check your share cost basis, contract count and whether an amount is per share or total dollars before comparing results.
Data and execution assumptions
Results depend on available quotes, option-chain data and your inputs. Quotes can change or be unavailable; displayed premiums are not guaranteed execution prices. Check current bid/ask prices and fees with your broker. Available strikes and expirations may vary, and a missing result does not mean no trade exists.
